United Nations in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Time:

The Resident Coordinator system in Bangladesh is part of the UN Reforms introduced in 1997 by the Secretary General, Kofi Annan, for enhanced coordination of the United Nations agencies at the country level.

The RC System's activities range from:

  • promoting UN Reforms at country level,
  • implementing the UNDAF 2006 – 2010,
  • supporting the country programming process of the UN system,
  • monitoring the MDGs,
  • providing support to the PRSP process,
  • supporting public information and advocacy for highlighting the impact of UN programmes at the country level,
  • promoting the observance of UN Day and other international days, and
  • other similar activities.

Besides coordination within the UN system, the RC system interacts with multilateral and bilateral donors for promoting common development concerns, especially focusing on good governance issues. Currently, the RC system manages a multi-donor fund.
