Acquiring a Car
Asian produced cars like
Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Hyundai are the most common cars on the
street. Four wheel drive is not really necessary for Dhaka. There is no
unleaded fuel in Bangladesh.
Recommendations
-
Right hand drive
-
a low-compression
engine using 95 to 98 octane, not unleaded petrol
-
Heavy shock absorbers
-
Good air conditioning
and air flow throughout the whole vehicle (especially for bigger vans)
-
Tyres with tubes
(punctures are common)
-
You will probably
employ a driver, so a second-hand or reconditioned car is preferable.
You can't avoid getting dents and scratches because of the heavy
traffic, the rickshaws and tempos.
-
Seat belts all
throughout and wear them.
-
Exceptional air filter
system as the heavy traffic produces a lot of pollution.
-
Rust proofing, good
insulation from outside noise, locks and alarms, and cloth or leather
upholstery (not vinyl).
