This summer has seen a lot of people in our community come and go. We wish everyone the best in their new homes, and we hope to see the newcomers at our activities.

WARM WELCOME TO DHAKA

Hitomi Glemarec (Japan) arrived in July with her two sons and her husband, the new UNDP Deputy Resident Representative (Programme) Yannick Glemarec (France), from Beijing, China. They have found a house in Banani and will send their children to the French School in Baridhara.

Bui Thi Lan (Vietnam), the new FAO Representative, and her son arrived in Dhaka recently. Her son will be attending the American International School.

Bintou Sanyang (Gambia) arrived in Dhaka with her husband, Seikou, and child, Maimuna. Mr. Seikou Sanyang joined the UNV unit as UNV Programme Officer. They were in the UNDP Gambia office for over ten years, and at the time of their departure, Mr. Sanyang was serving as Assistant Resident Representative, Programme. They are very happy to be here and they are anxious to get to know everyone.

Karen Vanloon (Netherlands), arrived from Washington with her husband, Marijn Verhoeven , IMF Representative, and their three children. The children, Daan (7), Niels (5) and Anna (3) are all enrolled at the AISD. Karen is due to deliver their fourth child in a few weeks’ time. Mr. Verhoeven succeeded Mr. Ronald Hicks from Australia.


UNWA Hospitality Kits
A dozen household start-up kits are available on a monthly rental basis while newcomers await shipments or consultants cope.

First month charge: Tk 1500, subsequent months: Tk 800, refundable deposit.

We also welcome donations of new kitchen items for the kits.
