December general meeting

  • On this occasion we will bid our President Patsy Lobo a fond farewell and wish her all the best in their new posting in Delhi.

Coming up in January 2002 ~ After the winter holidays, we start with the Tuesday tour of interesting places to see and shop in and around Dhaka. Don’t think this is only for newcomers; you’ll be surprised what you can learn from this tour even if you’re an oldtimer in town. Plus, a few of us use these tours for exercise and to get away from our daily routine; so put on your sneakers and comfortable clothes, bring some money for a light lunch and some shopping, and enjoy some time walking around and getting to know more about your surroundings. We’ll ask our hosts not to give us tea or snacks (like they usually do) so we can really work out. By then we’ll be ready to wear those beautiful clothes at the fashion show at the January General Meeting. Don’t forget to bring the newcomers who are a bit shy to come on their own.

Newcomer’s City tour

DATE: Tuesday 22 January
TIME: 10.00 - 14.00 hours
MEETING PLACE: Please call Naaz at 882-1743 beforehand.

The second in a series of surprise city tours of the best places to sightsee and shop. We will have a quick lunch somewhere interesting. Some walking, so wear comfortable shoes and clothes. There will be a carpool; but do let Naaz know beforehand if you’ll need a ride.

January General Meeting

DATE: Wed 30 January 2002
TIME: 10.30-13.00 hours
VENUE: Surma Room, Sonargaon Hotel

Programme: A mini fashion show by a few local designers exclusively for UNWA members! Everything is not confirmed yet at the time of printing, but we’ll post the details on the website as soon as we can, right here on this page! The maximum number of seats available at the Surma Room is fifty, so come on time, first come first serve. To reserve a place, call Naaz Farhana by 23 January!
