Membership News We would also like to welcome... Suvira Chaturvedi (USA) arrived in April on an assignment with ILO, as the International Expert on Community-Based Training. She is working on a project "Skills Training and Employment Promotion of Poor Women through Strengthening of Technical Training Centers." Suvira has lived and worked in several countries in Asia, Africa and Europe with UN agencies. Her spouse Michael Heyn joins her in Bangladesh. Minoli de Soysa (Sri Lanka) arrived in February with her husband who is working for the Asian Development Bank. She is a journalist and enjoys reading, travelling and swimming. Rashmi Michael (India) has been working as UNOPS Expatriate Micro Enterprise Specialist, in the Women Entrepreneurship Development project (supported by UNDP) since December 2000. She has over 13 years of experience in development, specific to Gender and Micro-enterprise development in Asia Pacific. Her interests are traveling, reading, cooking and working on the internet. She is accompanied by her spouse Boniface Michael. Meera Muktader (Bangladesh) has returned to her country after 25 years abroad. She has lived in India and Sri Lanka where her husband was working for the UN. She played an active role in UNWA in these countries. Satyawati Hanna Nurarif (Indonesia) has been working, since July 2001, with DG Family Planning and DG Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) first as a short term professional, then currently as Medical Officer (Reproductive Health) of WHO. After serving the Indonesian Government from 1970 to 1991, she joined UNICEF Indonesia in 1991 and was the Chief of UNICEF Bandung Field Office since August 1997. Lavi Sinha (India): Arrived in Dhaka in March from Vietnam. Her husband works for the World Bank. She has four children Her interests are reading and travelling.
Geeta Sethi (India) came to Bangladesh almost three years ago, as the UNAIDS Country Programme Adviser. She will be relocating with her husband and two children to Cambodia, to take up the CPA post there. She has been active in UNWA, most recently in the nominations committee. |
