Message from the UNWA President Tazeen Rehman

Dear Members,UNWA President Tazeen Rehman

Very warm greetings after the summer break. It is always good to be back where your home is. As someone once said, “Home is where your carpets lie and your paintings hang.”

September is an important month for UNWA. We have already started planning for the UN Ball which will be held on Friday, 25 October, which is the day after UN Day. Many members have shown interest in helping to organize the ball. But we still need more volunteers;  don’t hesitate to volunteer, and please contact the secretary Hitomi Glemarec  (tel: 882-5454 or 988-4423). Everyone should help make this event a success as it is our major fund raising event to support various welfare projects of UNWA.

In connection with UN Day, we will be sending letters to various schools for the forthcoming painting competition in October.

Another important day to remember is 14 September. We will be holding a General Meeting, and all full members should attend. The meeting will be held at the Lake Castle Hotel, beginning at 4 30 p.m. The main topic will be to discuss and vote on the proposed amendments to the constitution. These proposed amendments were already mentioned in the June issue of WOMUN. I hope that all of you have therefore had enough time to decide your views about these issue.

For those of you who have children in school here, September marks the beginning of a new year. I hope that it is an enjoyable and memorable year for you. And  for those whose children have left, like myself, I hope that we can make this transition smoothly and involve ourselves in UNWA and other meaningful activities.

Sincerely,

Tazeen Rehman
