Spitfire: New Gulshan Restaurant by Nancy Fee One enjoyable element of living in Dhaka is the constantly changing restaurant scene – and this last month is no different. Spitfire is the newest restaurant on Gulshan Avenue, north of DIT-2 circle, and next to Khazana. I’ve now been to Spitfire twice, first with two friends and then with my husband. Both times the food was fine. All together, we’ve had a range of dishes, liver pate, seafood soup, and various lamb dishes. As it’s name implies, Spitfire specializes in roast and grilled dishes, and all those we have tried have been fine. The ambiance and décor is also pleasant. The prices are in the moderate range for an up-market Gulshan restaurant, with most main dishes costing about Tk. 300-400 or so. While there were clearly some teething problems on our first visit just after opening (a main course arriving very late, only ice cream available for desert), these now seem to have been ironed out. Spitfire is owned by the same man who has established Saltz, which has also generally received good reviews from friends and colleagues. |
