Nominating Committee Report by Liti Lissner
The Nominating Committee 2003 consists of: We have had a very challenging time this year at the Nominating Committee. Cornelia and I called around to encourage people to work on the new Executive Board, but we were unable to find volunteers for the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Our Constitution requires the offices of the President, Vice President, and Treasurer to be filled by full members, and so in fact we were very worried that we were facing dissolution if we were unsuccessful. Dissolution proved to be an unpopular idea to most members; and after a quick meeting with Full Members, we were able to find volunteers who were willing to save the Association from going under. Two of the volunteers, the President-nominee and the Vice President-nominee, are willing to work on the Board until August when new and more “permanent” officers can be found. The President-nominee is a veteran member, a Past President, and full-time staff member at ICDDR,B, and the Vice President-nominee is also an “old” member, a past Treasurer and full-time mother of two very young children. But we are very happy to have them, even for a short time, because I am confident that they, like the rest of the candidates who have been duly nominated, will contribute greatly to UNWA. The candidates will be presented at the AGM in March and will be given the chance to introduce themselves. The Nominating Committee is pleased to present the slate of candidates for the Executive Board 2003-2004:
