UN Ball Update

From the UN Ball Committee Chair Rinda Maramis

This Ball is no ordinary Ball, as we celebrate the International Year of Rice, the 30th anniversary of Bangladesh’s membership to the United Nations, as well as United Nations Day.

The UN Ball committee had its first meeting on May 4th 2004 at the residence of UN Ball Committee Chair Rinda Maramis. Present were – Liti Lissner, Marika Vollman, Pauline Bottrill, Allison Hessic, Vassana Barclay, Wati Kamayana, Anowara Ahmed and Imrana Shahidulla. The decision was made to hold the UN Ball at Sonargaon Hotel on Thursday 30 September at 1930 hours. The menu for the dinner has been chosen carefully at a food tasting affair, and sponsors for drinks have been approached. The Pentagon Band will be asked to provide the music, and the printer for the Ball Brochure and tickets has been contacted. Letters to the sponsors are being delivered and posters will be up at various clubs, schools, and UN and diplomatic missions. The committee has been meeting once a week to prepare for this most important event.
