A sudden outbreak of pneumonia took away lives of 29 children in Dhaka City in the last ten days. Among them, 23 children died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and 6 died at Mitford Hospital. Sources from newspapers said these deaths are caused by infection of pneumococcus and himophillius influenzi bacteria and RSG virus. The disease is characterized by high fever, cough, respiratory problems and even heart attacks and spreads fast among children. From the last week of September, on an average, almost 150 children are admitted daily to various hospitals for pneumonia treatments. One of the causes of this outbreak is the unusual climate change at present. This year, pneumonia attacked alarmingly from the last week of September. Physicians advise that the only way to resist pneumonia is by taking the patients to the hospital as soon as they are attacked be fever with cough or other respiratory problems because these may turn into severe bronchitis or asthma later on.
